The roof of the hall was seriously damaged in a hailstorm a few years ago, and despite some repairs has continued to leak.
Just over $28,000 has been received for the roof’s replacement from the state government and the NSW Rural Fire Service, which has earmarked the hall as a gathering point for Emmaville locals in the event of an emergency.
Hall committee president Clark Say said the funding was welcome, as the state of the roof had become a serious issue for the community.
“The lead paint on the roof is also slowly peeling off and therefore it’s no longer safe to drink the tank water,” he said.
“The hall has many user groups and it’s reasonable for them to expect to be able to use the water at the hall.”
