AFTER enduring a frustrating first-day washout on Saturday, the 12 teams competing in the Central North Invitational Carnival in Tamworth saw some action yesterday.
Games were moved to synthetic surfaces but the teams from North West, Northern Tablelands, Hunter Valley and Mid North Coast were just happy to be out in the sunshine and playing some cricket after a long winter.
The carnival concludes today with games set to return to the turf.
Central North selectors are keeping a keen eye on proceedings, with under 14s and 16s zone teams to be chosen after the carnival to play in trials against St George later this week.
