NORTHERN NSW Under 21 Emu Colts suffered their first loss on their 2016 New Zealand tour yesterday when comprehensively beaten by the Canterbury Senior Performance Squad (CSPS) in their One Day International at Mandeville Sports Complex.

After beating the CSPS the day before in the Boomerang Trophy Test, the Emus were unable to back up and were dismissed for 146 in the 50- over-a-side game.
The home side then lost just the two wickets in chasing down the runs quickly, Emus manager Warwick Glaves said.
West Tamworth keeper Campbell Baker was the only batsman to shine, unbeaten on 47.
“Campbell did bat well but apart from him there wasn’t much else,” Glaves said.
“Tom Burley (14) and Campbell put on 30 at the death but the only other batsman to reach double figures was Ben Woodward (14).
“The boys were a bit jaded. It’s been a long tour.
“And we did have a rain delay this morning, where it looked like we mightn’t play at one stage.
“There was a little bit in the wicket early but that’s no excuse.
“We lost early wickets and never recovered.”
Kale Smith’s 2-57 off nine overs was best for the Emus in their first loss on the tour.
They have a rest day today and play a Youth Selection at the picturesque Willows ground tomorrow.
“We’re really looking forward to that,” Glaves said.
“It is a wonderful ground, privately owned by a cricket eclectic.
“The club house has a menagerie of cricket history as well.
“It will be lovely just to be there.”
