How can this possibly be true when the Australian government allows Bluescope Steel to earn
$47 billion and pay no income tax. Likewise, both Transfield and Newscorp each earn $2.8 billion and pay no tax.
At least BHP, which earns $40.5 billion, pays $3.9 billion tax – less than 10 per cent.
The list goes on.
For example, with Apple earning $6 billion but paying just $74 million, a bit more than 1 per cent.
My guess is that Aussie workers would wonder how come big companies can pay so little (if any!) tax, when, like lambs to the slaughter, they are locked into paying much higher tax rates ?
Please explain ?
