The Rural Romance Author Panel of Sarah Barrie, Mandy Magro and Téa Cooper will bring love to Tamworth Library on Thursday, January 21 at 10am.
“We thought it was a good fit because one of the authors in particular, Mandy Magro, has Adam Brand in one of her stories,” Tamworth library information and collections librarian Shiralee Franks said.
“For people, it’s an alternative if they are looking for something other than country music.
“Rural romance is a really popular genre for the library and we thought we could capitalise on that and have it during the country music festival.”
Barrie said the authors wanted to tell everybody about what they were up to and people always wanted to know where they got their ideas from.
“We get people who are really interested in finding out more about writing and you never know what you’re in for,” she said.
“This is for country people who love reading about rural romance, and the country music festival is the perfect setting for that.”
Historic rural romance author Téa Cooper said she was interested in promoting the romance genre because it tended to get bad press.
“I’d still like to convert people to reading digital books as well,” she said.
“They are shorter books and they have the same content, and I know they will enjoy them. There is still a great divide between a real book and not a real book and, in a way, that upsets me because it diminishes the content of the digital books.”
As well as rural romance, Tamworth Library will have country music storytime with a range of artists on Tuesday, January 19 and Friday, January 23 at 11am. Amber Lawrence will read on Wednesday, January 20 at 10am.
