THREE men arrested while protesting against coal mines at Boggabri, including an 84-year-old Tamworth man, have had their cases adjourned after appearing in Narrabri Local Court on Tuesday.
Russ Watts chained himself to the gate of Boggabri Coalmine’s coal-haulage road earlier this month, preventing traffic from getting through for more than six hours.
He was arrested and charged with hindering working of mine equipment.
Mr Watts’ protest came the day after Daniel Jones and Scott Mackenzie climbed a coal crusher and hung a banner demanding an end to coalmining in the area, for which they were also arrested.
Their cases have been adjourned to November 27.
Another mining protester, Carmel Flint, will go before court on October 23.
Ms Flint faces charges of entering inclosed land without a lawful excuse and remaining on inclosed land without a lawful excuse for chaining herself to a bulldozer in the Leard State Forest in April.
