THE State Water Corporation yesterday resumed water releases from Copeton Dam, a day after being halted at the request of authorities responding to Tuesday’s double-fatality boating accident on the Gwydir River.
Flow rates from Copeton Dam recommenced at a rate of 1500 megalitres per day from 4.15pm yesterday and increased to 2000ML/day at 8pm.
The rate of flow will be further increased to between 3000-4000ML/day from today.
State Water stopped all flows to allow emergency services to search the river, after the tragic boating accident about 10am on Tuesday.
