Some crooks will steal anything.
Among a handful of attempted break-ins, stealing from cars in Tamworth and Gunnedah over the past couple of days, are two crime cases out of the ordinary – but still occupying police investigation time.

Police said the theft occurred between Monday night and early Tuesday morning when someone drove onto the property just off the New England Highway and took the produce.
In Tamworth on Tuesday night, a parked car outside a Jay St house was relieved of a 9kg fire extinguisher.
At Gunnedah, thieves got away with handbags and cash from break-ins to two cars in separate incidents in Beulah St and on Kamilaroi Rd on Monday and Tuesday nights.
And while they didn’t get anything, police believe it wasn’t for lack of trying, but more a case of being interrupted before they could get what they wanted in East Tamworth on Tuesday night.
Police were called when a homeowner reported an attempted break-and-enter in Hill St.
Four males in dark clothing were spotted near a car parked at the home after the owner heard noises outside. He yelled at them but they ran off.
Police are appealing for any witnesses or information to any of the crimes.
