Nine fires broke out yesterday burning out more than 688ha.
Two larger fires, that began on Monday, continued to burn in the west of the region.
The largest fire burned 15km south of Boggabri on the Newell Highway.
At last count yesterday it had destroyed 400ha of scrub and grass.
Other fires burned at Upper Horton, Tingha and Tenterden.
All were listed as under control or being controlled by the Rural Fire Service website late yesterday.
The two fires that began on Monday remained under the watchful eye of RFS crews.
One, at the Boggabri boat ramp which broke out Monday morning, had burnt out 35 hectares of grass and scrub at last count late yesterday afternoon.
A fire at Couradda, north-east of Narrabri, which had burned out 25ha, was still under the watch of volunteer crews yesterday evening.
