TESSA Wood was just 19 months old when she died in 2009 from a rare complication of leukaemia, after battling the disease for nine months.
This month her parents, Damian and Rebecca Wood, will embark on a 700km bike ride from Sydney to Armidale in memory of their little girl and to raise money for the hospital where she was treated, the Sydney Children’s Hospital.
The Lifecyclists also include fellow Armidale residents Jim Lea and John Hiscox, as well as Rob and Rolfe Kolbe, from Sydney, and Paul Mackie and Walter van Hilst from Taree.
They will leave the hospital on Saturday and plan to arrive in Armidale the following Friday for a reception and charity auction.
The group will also collect donations from towns along the way. The inaugural Lifecyclists ride was held in 2010 and raised $52,000 for the Sydney Children’s Hospital.
Donations to the Lifecyclists ride can be made at www.lifecyclists.com or by deposit into the Lifecyclists account at New England Mutual.
