Paterson smacked an unbeaten 49-ball 72 to steer McDonald’s to a nine wicket win over Halpin’s Plumbing after Jones had set the Tigers up for a 45-run win with a brilliant century.
Jones carried on where he left off for Tamworth on Sunday, pummelling 112 off just 50 balls to lift the Tigers from a dicey 3-16 to 7-178 from their 20 overs.
He was at his destructive best, peeling off six sixes and eight fours in his stay.
Jake Everett (25) and Lachlan Cooke (13) played good supporting roles, the pair then doing the job with the ball.
Both were on hat-tricks, Everett early in Steggles’ run chase and Cooke late, and finished with three as Steggles stuttered to 133.
Skipper Ben Middlebrook (26) and Clark Geary (30) gave Steggles some faint hope after they were similarly in early trouble, but that dissipated when Lachie Betts picked up Middlebrook with only Brad Redshaw (11no) making double figures after them.
Over at Riverside 2, after restricting the Hurricanes to 9-113, McDonald’s always looked to have the chase in hand with Paterson and Shawn Mepham putting on 90 for the first wicket in 10 overs.
The star of the first round with a ton, Mepham was overshadowed by his opening partner, with the Central North 16s captain pummelling eight fours and two sixes, and fittingly hitting the winning runs off the final ball of the 16th over.
Phil Constable (1-33) was the only succesful bowler for Halpin’s after earlier playing a relatively lone hand with 40 off 28.
He was the only batsman to score over 15 as Brock Ridgewell (4-19) tore through them.
