After the success of last year’s inaugural Grand Final Gala Day, the TBA is again condensing the primary and secondary competition grand finals into one day.
“We had a lot of positive feedback,” TBA administrator Peter McDonald said.
“There was a good carnival atmosphere.”
There will be around 10 grand finals decided across the two competitions and McDonald is anticipating some close contests.
“We’ve had a lot of close semi-finals,” he said.
The games will be played on Courts 2, 3 and 4, and there will also be free throw and three-point shooting competitions run throughout the day.
It’s been a big year on and off the court for the TBA.
Earlier this month they were presented with the award for the “Best Association Under 2000 People” at a Basketball NSW function.
On the court the U14 boys won gold at the Country Division 1 Championships, while the U18s girls won the NJL title.
Their efforts also saw them pick up the junior (U14 boys) and young (U18 girls) teams of the year awards at the Tamworth Sports Awards on Thursday night.
Last Sunday the TBA held an informal get-together at the Calala Inn.
“It was just a get-together so everyone can meet the board and the rep coaches,” McDonald said.
Preparations are well underway for the next rep season.
Tryouts have been conducted over the last couple of months.
The selection process for most of the sides will conclude at next weekend’s Pacific Challenge Pre-Season carnival at Bellingen.
“We’re taking 13 teams over,” McDonald said.
One team in each of the 12s boys and girls, two U14s boys and girls, three U16s boys and two U16s girls, and two U18s boys sides.
“We’re looking for a few more in the U12 age group,” he said.
“Ideally we’d like to have two U12s.
“It’s an important age. It sets the numbers for the following years.”
At the moment they’ve got the numbers for about one-and-a-half teams.
They are also short on U18 girls.

The first games tip off tomorrow at 9am.
