Mr Lobsey passed away peacefully at Eloura Nursing Home in Quirindi, aged 81.
Mr Lobsey was heavily involved in many aspects of the community, including 28 years in local government, and was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia in 1999 for his service to local government and the wider community.
He served on both Tamarang Shire Council, including six as deputy president, and Quirindi Shire Council, where he was deputy mayor for four years.
Mr Lobsey served as chairman of the Central Northern Weeds Council for many years and was treasurer of the Quirindi Show Society, of which he was an honorary life member.
In his home town of Wallabadah, he was a long-time member of the Wallabadah P&C and was also involved in the hall committee.
Liverpool Plains Shire Council mayor Andrew Hope said it was with great sadness the council learned of Mr Lobsey’s passing.
“On behalf of LPSC, councillors, staff and the wider Liverpool Plains community, I extend condolences to his wife Margaret, son David and daughter Jillian, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as his sister Moya, brother Ian and other family members,” Cr Hope said.
