About 5000 people are expected to descend upon Petersons Winery for the concert featuring John Farnham, Daryl Braithwaite, The Black Sorrows, and Ross Wilson and the Peaceniks.
A Day on the Green promoter Michael Newton said they loved getting to Armidale.
“The weather looks really good and the site looks great,” he said.
“It’s always good fun playing up there, so we are looking forward to it.”
This is the fourth time the afternoon musical feast has landed in Armidale, with last year cancelled.
Mr Newton said they planned to continue the annual festival at Petersons Winery.
“It’s good because the venue is really great and the locals have really got behind the event, which is really good to know and we appreciate that,” he said.
“Armidale is good because it’s just a bit off the beaten track for us. People are usually going to the Hunter, but Armidale is another show that is a little bit out of the way, and we kinda like that about it.”
The city has embraced the concert, with buskers going head-to-head yesterday for the chance to play at the entrance gate of A Day on the Green.
Buses will run from Tamworth and other places throughout the region.
The Tamworth bus willleave from the former visitor information centre at 11.45am, picking up at Nemingha service station at 11.55am, Kootingal at 12.05pm, Moonbi Post Office at 12.10pm and Bendemeer Caravan Park at 12.25pm, and arriving at Peterson’s Winery about 1.15pm.
The bus will return to the city immediately after the concert.
Gates open at the winery at 2.30pm, with Ross Wilson on stage at 3pm.
