THE BRAZEN Jasper continues to justify a decision by the Weidemann sisters to claim the former Graham Moon-trained gelding at an Armidale meeting last season after arriving late to win the Johns Auto Service Pace (1980m) at Tamworth Paceway yesterday.

He was part of a huge winning day for the Clifton sisters as well.
Lola drove two winners for injured Uralla driver-trainer Mitch Faulkner – Never Die and Stormy Warrior – to victory and then won on Isobela Maree to complete a driving treble.
Isobela Maree was the first of a winning training treble for Julie as she also prepares The Brazen Jasper, Isobela Maree and Pepperall.
Julie also drove The Brazen Jasper and Pepperall for a driving double to cap a dominant day for the Queensland stable.
The Brazen Jasper’s win was similar to his recent Albion Park win.
He had won in the last bound at Albion Park three starts prior at 70-1 for the Weidemanns and reprised that effort yesterday, finishing over the top of stablemate Long Term Fella and Mitrhys Magic.
The latter two had led throughout and set a scorching pace, with 400m splits of 29.8secs, 29.3secs and 29.3secs setting it up for a late swooper.
“We had liked him when we saw him race down here,” Julie Weidemann said of The Brazen Jasper.
“We claimed him at Armidale and he’s now won quite a few for us.”
Mitrhys Magic’s run was colossal.
He led and had the audacity to fight back after Long Term Fella led him by a half length down the back straight and then again in the home straight before The Brazen Jasper pounced for a short half head win.
It was a good day for the Clifton trainer-drivers after Lola Weidemann’s double on Never Die and Stormy Warrior earlier in the day.
It was a deserving double for Faulkner.
“That’s his first win for us,” Faulkner said of Stormy Warrior.
“We’ve only had him a couple of months.”
It was Stormy Warrior’s 187th race start and his 31st win.
Never Die was having just his 14th start and notched a second win for the recovering Uralla trainer who had been dislodged from the gig at the previous Tamworth meeting and lost a large piece of skin after being dragged on his backside.
