The annual Nundle CWA Art Exhibition has wrapped up for another year, with organisers hailing the event a success.
Art exhibition committee member Claire Lennon said, while the number of entries was slightly less this year, the standard of the works remained high.
Multimedia artist Hugh Oliveiro judged the show and Mrs Lennon said he was “very impressed, with the standard of art making his job very hard”.
“Hugh was also very impressed with the children’s section and the manner in which it was displayed and judged,” she said.
Mr Oliveiro lives in Tamworth, but has travelled extensively and has designed sets and costumes for the Australian Ballet, a gigantic mural for the entrance foyer at the Victorian Arts Centre and artworks for the Park Hyatt Hotel in Sydney and at the Australian embassy in Paris.
The People’s Choice Award winner was Noeline Millar’s work, Hidden Cottage Sofala.
The exhibition attracted visitors from Brisbane, southern Queensland and areas south to Sydney.
The art lovers bought several thousand dollars’ worth of works.
“Seeing such great results makes all our hard work worthwhile,” Mrs Lennon said.
The annual CWA Art Show began in 1965 to raise funds for the CWA rooms, so that a preschool could begin to operate on the premises and this year will raise money to service a loan to renovate the rooms.
