AT THE eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month the students and teachers of Kootingal Public School held a Remembrance Day service in the school hall.

The service was led by the school captains, Emily Nicholls and Jack Howard, and assisted by vice captains, Chenoa Seimsen and Toby Taggart.
Emily recited the moving poem 'In Flanders Fields'.
The principal, Mrs Cara Cracknell, addressed the assembly.
She spoke about the horrors of war and the devastation that occurs to all the people and places involved.
Mrs Cracknell showed two powerful photographs.
One was of Ypres in Belgium taken in 1918, the other was of a village in Syria taken in 2015.
The only difference was in time and colour. Both places were completely destroyed.
All those who were present reflected on the tragic consequences of war.
During the minute's silence we all gave thanks to the brave men and women who fought and died for us.
The student representative council laid wreaths.
It was a very moving Remembrance service.
