The fact new club president Sam Spokes was married on Saturday night might have had a lot to do with that, starter Allan Bower said.
Club stalwart Kevin Bartlett reckoned the numbers might be small this Sunday too with a number of riders heading to Bathurst for the NSW Country track championships.
It allowed Bower room for some mirth and merriment.
“They had the bucks’ party trip last week, the wedding this week and the honeymoon next week,” Bower joked.
“Mitch (Carrington) is having his engagement party,” Darren Taylor chipped in.
Just 11 riders turned out for Sunday’s second Tamworth Cycling Club criterium of the new season at Goddard Lane.
Dave Menzies won the B Grade 25 minute plus two laps race from Darren Taylor and Peter Nash while Fraser Ashford won the A Grade 30 minute plus two lap race from Jack Pianta and John Saunders.
Ashford also won the first A Grade criterium the previous week.
The Tamworth club runs its third criterium races again this Sunday from 8am at Goddard Lane and extends an invite to any rider wanting to race and ride.
