Bob Hamilton from Tamworth Legacy passes on these words of appreciation to those who helped raise funds on Annual Badge Day, 2012.
ON BEHALF of the members of Tamworth Legacy, I would like to convey our sincere appreciation to the many business houses and members of the general public who supported Legacy during Badge Week, which ran from September 2, through to September 8.
Friday, September 7 was our annual Badge Day, and in true Tamworth spirit our locals rallied, and donated generously.
Money raised in our area stays in our area.
This is our major fundraiser for the year and the money raised
sustains us for the 12 months. For some of our widows, our bus trips, Christmas lunch and entertainment is their only chance to get out of the house/hostel.
Thank you to our local hotels for allowing us to place our Legacy “tin hats” on the bar for the week. Small change goes a long way.
I would also like to make mention of the many volunteers who put their hand up to help either on the day or leading up to Badge Day.
This included the Sunrise Rotary Club, 12/16th Hunter River Lancers, national servicemen and the 100-plus school students from Calrossy Anglican girls’ and boys’ schools, Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School, Oxley High School and Tamworth High School.
We also had the help of Oxley and Hillvue Scouts on the Saturday morning.
To all these volunteers and any not mentioned – our sincere thanks, you were invaluable.
It is pleasing to see our younger generation, who are our future, embracing our history.
On Saturday, September 1,
Legacy had the barbecue at Bunnings. Members of the Lions Club donated their time to cook the sausages for us (our thanks to them).
Our most sincere thanks to Bunnings and to those who enjoyed a sausage sandwich that day.
Our thanks must also go to Hannafords Coaches for ferrying the school students from school to the various selling locations and then back to school at no charge.
Thank you to the media which helped promote Legacy Badge Day.
To our local shopping centres and McDonald’s South – thank you for allowing us to sell Legacy Badges in positions that allowed us maximum sales.
We hope that everyone will be just as generous next year.
