The Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club’s fifth annual get-together is timed this year to coincide with the Sunday morning markets in the CBD.
Last year, 41 Japanese-built motorcycles, dating from 1960 to 1999, were displayed by members, with prizes awarded in various categories.
Former Central Hotel licensee Gary Burgess won the People’s Choice award with his eye-catching Honda CBX1000, and local enthusiast Steve Murden took out three of the six trophies on offer with his impressive collection of bikes.
Event organiser Ray Fox said that for the past five years, proceeds raised have been directed towards a number of charitable organisations, raising more than $12,000.
Last year’s strong community support enabled a donation of $1650 to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
Proceeds from this year’s event will be handed over to the North West Cancer Centre.
The event, which has grown each year since its inception in 2011, celebrates the manufacturing excellence of brands such as Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Suzuki.
