The program is funded by the federal government and places a teacher who is experienced and highly skilled in music education in a school to work with identified classroom teachers.
Tamworth Public School teachers Brooke Unsworth and Janet Watts were chosen for the pilot program.
The teacher mentor was Natalie Brown.
Natalie mentored Janet and Brooke in the classroom for an hour each a week to build their capacity to deliver enhanced student learning in music.
Natalie's broad skills and experiences were obvious as the program developed and Brooke and Janet thoroughly enjoyed working with her.
I was fortunate enough to witness first-hand the classroom lessons and can report they were very productive, with all participating having a wonderful time. The boys and girls absolutely loved it.
Our sincere thanks go to Natalie for her excellent mentoring. Congratulations Janet and Brooke; I know you both are now more confident and capable in delivering quality classroom music programs.

State Cricket Carnival
Last week saw Jeremiah Barbara in the far south of the state representing North West in Cricket.
Jem is a very talented all rounder with a mean inswinger.
Reports are he has had a pretty good trip with his team, taking a fantastic 'bag' on day two.
North West won their first game on Monday and then lost to CIS but Jem bowled brilliantly to rip through the opposition, who are perennial favourites, to finish with 3-7 off 8 overs.
They played North Coast in what was a close match where he again bowled well with figures of 0-16 off 8 overs.
He is apparently having a wonderful time down in the Riverina and has established himself in the opening pair of bowlers with his left arm in swingers.
We congratulate him and know he will have benefitted greatly from the experience.
