The move came after Tuesday’s ordinary meeting, where council reinstated the current Drought Management Plan.
In July this year, councillors decided to set aside the Drought Management Plan and maintain level 2 restrictions because of a predicted dry period for eastern Australia and community concern for water conservation.
The water stored in both Chaffey and Dungowan dams has risen since then, with the current levels at 55.6 per cent and 90.9 per cent respectively.
Under level 1 restrictions, Tamworth city residents will be able use sprinklers for the first time since May this year.
Tamworth Regional Council water sustainability officer Ian Lobban said there were still limitations during level 1 restrictions.
“Under level 1 restrictions, sprinklers, microjet sprays and fixed hoses can be used but only for two hours: between 6pm and 8pm daylight saving time,” he said.
The ban on washing down hard surfaces, unless using a high-pressure cleaner, remains in place.
Recycled, greywater and rainwater can be used at any time and only from tanks not connected to the treated supply.
