New councillor aware of responsibilities

I WAS recently elected to Tamworth Regional Council, coming fifth on primary votes and eighth after preferences were distributed.

The last time I was elected to a position was the Student Representative Council at Tamworth High School in 1985; a long time ago.

I wish to sincerely thank those people of Tamworth Regional Council local government area who gave me their support leading up to the September 8 election and indeed on election day.

I want to say to the many well-wishers that had clogged the telephone line over the past week that I am really pleased for their support, too, throughout the past few months, especially last Saturday.

With the help of many people I tried hard to let the people know what I stood for, essentially my “policies” for the next four years: back to basics on roads, footpaths, parks and gardens, graffiti removal, street lighting, street tree plantings and the retention of the King George V Memorial Avenue oak trees and the avenue as is, to name a few.

I will not digress from them now and I am very much aware of the responsibility I have to the people of our local government area who have placed their trust in me.

I will try to work hard for them over the next four years to deliver the outcomes they want and deserve. If there is anything I can help with please let me know.

Thank you.
