THE women who work out at Curves in Tamworth are showing the world they’re no sissies.
In what could have been a film clip for Helen Reddy’s track I Am Woman, seven members of the local female circuit gym decided to grab the rope and pull a nine-tonne prime mover to mark Curves International “Not For Sissies Day”.
The scene was set at the parking area near the Tamworth Skate Park where the Humes prime mover sat awaiting the challenge.
Seven women arrived, psyched and ready to pull and it turned out easier than they thought, with the prime mover rolling at the first pull of the rope.
“A member’s husband owns the truck so we asked if it would be available for the challenge,” Curves Tamworth’s Sue Cowley said.
“We thought pulling a truck would be a bit out of the ordinary. We thought it would show that we can do this and the activity is great. We all pitched in and worked together.”
Not content to prove themselves once, after the first truck pull the seven women had the truck reversed so they could have a second go. Now, we all know who to call if we break down.
