The ‘Music in the Park’ festival is co-hosted by the Lions Club and will feature various local artists who will donate their time and talents for charity.
“There’ll be a great day’s entertainment. Plus the fact we’ve got four or five acres of gardens,” Peter said.
“Kick back and let the worries of the world roll off, at least for 24 hrs”.
Peter and Vicky are generous with their home and often put on fundraising functions when they catch wind of locals who’ve fallen on hard times.
“We just don’t like to see people in hard times,” Peter said.
“We don’t like seeing people stressed out. Their problems can be solved by a few dollars, we can help them out”.
Local country music singers Belinda Mclean and Christine Harmon will be performing on the stage Peter made from the back of a truck.
“Both these female artists have exquisite voices,” he said.
Willie Wilson from Glen Innes will be passing through for the show and Steve Wilson will also travel in from Barabra.
“He’s no relation to Willie, but just as talented.”
Peter will also be appearing, as will Allen East from Inverell. Tony DeFraine will add to the excitement with a fire twirling routine. The Lions Club will be providing coffee and a sausage sizzle.
“Every dollar that we earn goes towards the local charities. No one gets paid,” Peter said.
“These people are giving their free time,” Vicky said.
Peter and Vicky will be donating the festival proceeds to St Vincent De Paul in Inverell and the Tingha Citizens Association, and the Lions Club will also donate any profits to local charities.
The event will run from 10am-6pm at the Denovans’ ‘Tory Park’ property on Old Mill road near Tingha. Entry is $5.
Alcohol will not be provided, although festival-goers are welcome to bring their own.
Children must be supervised at all times. For more information, contact Peter on 0428 233 561.
