NARRABRI’S new pool complex is well on its way, with the roof installed on September 4.
The Narrabri Aquatic Pool project, which started on May 30, was on schedule, a Narrabri Shire Council spokesman said.
It’s a totally new complex on the existing Narrabri Memorial Swimming Pool site.
Narrabri Shire Council mayor Robyn Faber said the townsfolk were “amazed” at how quickly it was being built.
“Everyone’s really excited it’s finally happening,” Cr Faber told The Leader .
Stage One, which is costing $5 million, has already seen the removal of the wading pool and work commence on a 25-metre heated indoor pool whose depth will range between 1.05m and 1.5m, with a ramp into the pool.
Stage One also includes a new splash pool, changeroom facilities, plant room, administration office and outdoor cafe, plus a first-aid room and multipurpose room.
The multipurpose room will be able to be used as an exercise area and can be hired out.
Stage Two will see the grandstand and existing 50-metre pool replaced, the spokesman said.
The complex is due to be finished by mid-November, Cr Faber said.
“It’ll be up and running before Christmas,” she said.
