TAMWORTH Choral Society presented a concert with a special spring flavour at the Tamworth Community Centre yesterday.
The Spring Concert celebrated Negro spirituals with the theme of “A People In Slavery Sing”.
Tamworth Regional Conservatorium of Music head of vocal studies Johan Bester opened the concert as the special guest artist, performing Nobody Knows The Trouble I’ve Seen.
His choir, the Tamworth Regional Conservatorium Children’s Choir also performed as guests on the day, singing old favourites including Hush Little Baby and Skip To My Lou.
The concert include a repertoire of Negro spirituals as well as an historical perspective to the music.
The concert was Mr Bester’s last public performance in Tamworth before the baritone and his family head to the USA where his daughter, Melisa, has been offered a record deal.
The singer has been at the conservatorium for two-and-a-half years and said he’s loved his job.
“I have never loved a job as much as this,” he said.
