THERE was a lot of love in the room on Sunday afternoon at The Acres Bowling and Recreation Club in Greenacre.

The place was packed with people all there for the same reason – to salute and to mourn Audrey Auld, a beautiful soul taken way too soon.
There was a virtual cast of thousands, with artists donating their time and talents, and patrons giving generously to raise an eventual $7302 to help offset Audrey’s huge medical bills which are now the responsibility of her husband Mez.
Here’s just a few artists who took the stage, backed by an amazing core band of Camille Te Nahu, Stuie French, Hunter and Suzy Owens, Tomi Graso, Joel Davis and special guests.
They included Kasey Chambers, Bill Chambers, Diane Chambers, Harry Hookey, Marie Hodson, Aimee Hannan, Maryanne Burton, Bryan Browne, Dennis Aubrey, Charlie Collins (nee Bailey), Sonny French, Kelly Cooper-Durant, Felicity Urquhart and Glen Hannah.
Soundies Dave Hibbert and Greg Mitchell worked hard all afternoon and evening to ensure they all sounded their best.
The event was captured on video and in photographs by a heap of great people.
The club’s staff were just lovely and made us all feel very welcome. I have a feeling it will be the first of many special events held in that room.
As you’d expect when thinking of Audrey, there was lots of laughter, as she so loved to laugh.
Tears, too, but that’s only because we all miss her so much and feel for her husband, who’s struggling to come to terms with the huge hole left in his life with Audrey’s passing.
My photos are a bit dodgy, but they’ll give you a small taste of the event.
If you have a look on Facebook, lots of people posted photos on the Audrey Auld Mezera Memorial Day page. Check it out.
NUNDLE’S singing chef Toni Swain has another exciting event coming up for your enjoyment.
Nundle Rocks presents the delightful Sarah Carroll and special guests at the Nundle Supper Room, on Friday, September 25 at the Nundle Memorial Hall from 7pm.
Swaino has created a tastebud-tempting menu to lure you out to the hills of gold ... as if hearing the gorgeous “Ukulele Queen from Bellarine” wasn’t enough!
Salivate as you consider an entree of seafood gumbo with corn bread, followed by southern-fried chicken with sides of tangy coleslaw, mash and gravy. Yum!
Tickets for dinner and the show are $30, and it’s a BYO event. Sarah’s special guests include her son, George Wilson, Leigh Ivin and a few surprises.
Numbers are required ASAP for catering purposes, so phone or text 0412 630 457 to reserve your seat at the table.
