About 3am on Saturday, four men, two armed with firearms and another armed with a knife, forced their way into a home on MacDonald Drive, threatening the residents.
The offenders stole cash and jewellery then fled the home.
Police said they were last seen running east towards Cookes Road.
A 35-year-old man inside the home suffered minor cuts and bruising but police said he did not required medical assistance.
A crime scene was set up at the home and investigators called in.
Armidale detectives have confirmed no shots were fired but are appealing for public help from anyone who might have seen anything at the time to come forward.
The home invasion is the second in as many nights in the New England after four men forced their way into a Uralla home and injured a couple sleeping inside early on Friday morning.
Firearms, cash and jewellery were stolen from the Uralla home while a man and a woman were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Anyone with information on the four offenders or who saw anything suspicious is urged to contact Armidale police on 6771 0699 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
