Man charged with child sex offences in Gunnedah

Police have arrested and charged a man with child sex offences in Gunnedah yesterday

The 22-year-old man was arrested by officers attached to Oxley Local Area Command after a search warrant was executed at a house in Fairview Street, Gunnedah about 11.45am yesterday.

A number of items, including a computer and mobile phone, were seized during the raid.

It will be alleged that while the man was living in Newcastle between September 2011 and April 2012, he exchanged sexually-explicit content with a 13-year-old girl residing in Victoria.

The man was taken to Gunnedah Police Station where he was later charged with:

- Groom child under 14 years for unlawful sexual activity;

- Use carriage service to send indecent material to person under 16 years;

- Use child under 14 years to make child abuse material; and

- Produce, disseminate or possess child abuse material.

The man was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Gunnedah Local Court on Tuesday 6 November 2012.
