The village is one of nine small community finalists in the running to receive a $10,000 upgrade of vital projects courtesy of the Beef Brigade team, which will be headed by rugby legend and ex-Wallaby captain Nathan Sharpe.
These nine communities share their stories with the nation from September 1 via www.beefbrigade.com.au and will be relying on Australians – and particularly those throughout the North West – to give Woolbrook their vote.
Australian Beef has teamed up with Mr Sharpe, a two-time recipient of the coveted John Eales Medal, to lead the Beef Brigade in a competition where a crew of handymen and women help the winning community complete a vital project in their town.
Along with the $10,000 community project grand prize, three runners-up will each receive $5000.
From entries all over Australia, Woolbrook was selected in the final nine to fight out the main prize. The township, which has not only grazing and beef as its core, but also the love of rugby, has plans to put the prize money to good use by installing a new children’s playground and upgrading the town park for locals and travellers alike to enjoy.
Woolbrook has no playground facilities for local children, and without assistance, this project could take up to seven years of fundraising to come to fruition.
Beef Brigade captain Nathan Sharpe is no doubt anxiously awaiting the announcement of the winner so he can get his hands dirty on the winning project.
So townsfolk, outlying community residents and those throughout the North West are urged to give Woolbrook their support. Voting ends on September 28 via www.beefbrigade.com.au
