The Tamworth boxer made a triumphant return with a comfortable unanimous points win at Newcastle recently.
Carroll was one of four from the Tamworth gym who travelled down to Newcastle for the fight night.
All four returned victorious, with Jacob Stanton, Mark Morgan and Ryan Ferrier also winning their respective bouts.
Stanton was having his first fight as a senior and won in a first round knockout.
“It was a big step up for him,” gym owner Mike Abra said.
Carroll fought the main event.
The Australian, NSW and Golden Gloves champion in his heyday was making a comeback after 14 years and didn’t look like he’d been out of the ring, Abra said.
The former trainer has stepped back from that role and was full of praise for Chris Dickson’s work to prepare them.
“Chris is now training the boys at Westside and had them prepared to perfection,” he said.
It was a warm-up for all four for title fights in November at Cobar.
Fellow gym stars Lynken Dickson and Brad Way will also box for titles then.
