CHARACTERS from some of the world’s best-loved children’s books came to life at Carinya Christian School as students marked the 70th anniversary of Book Week.
They dressed up as their favourite literary heroes, while more than 200 parents, carers and friends also joined in the fun.
Head of junior school Brett Sharrock said it was a great opportunity to mark the 70th year – and this year’s theme, Books Light Up Our World – and promote the importance of reading.
“Literacy is such an important part of a child’s education and Carinya is aiming to strengthen the relationship between ‘home and school’ by providing a framework for families to promote reading and writing in their homes,” Mr Sharrock said.
The morning included a play, Three Little Pigs, by Roald Dahl, and part of a video of author Aaron Blabey reading his much-loved book, Pig the Pug.
