Police officers and the Bunbury Sea Rescue crew recovered the body from the water about 1.30pm Thursday, August 27.
The person's identity, age and gender have not been released.
They were notified by Busselton Sea Rescue that a deceased person had been sighted about one-and-a-half nautical miles off the Bunbury coast.
Bunbury Sea Rescue Commander Albert Fullarton said the body was first discovered by a fisherman.
Detectives have headed to the scene to determine whether there is any criminality involved in the person’s death.
