He was treated at Tamworth hospital before the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked at about 6.30am yesterday to transport the boy to John Hunter Hospital for specialist treatment.
It’s been a busy weekend for the chopper after it airlifted a man from Glen Innes to Tamworth on Saturday night with head injuries.
The 32-year-old was seriously injured when his quad bike rolled on Saturday afternoon, while a 53-year-old man was flown from Armidale hospital to Tamworth with chest problems about 1.45am on Saturday.
On Friday, the helicopter completed two missions – airlifting a 42-year-old woman to hospital after a crash near Walcha and also assisting police in the search for a missing woman between Coledale and Bective.
