Delivery man threatened in Coledale

A 21-year-old food delivery driver was threatened by a group of men with steel pipes while making a delivery to a Coledale home on Tuesday night.

It’s one of the first reported incidents of a threat against a delivery driver for a while and comes after many of the town’s businesses declared parts of the Coledale area “no-go zones” for deliveries.

About 8.30pm, the male driver had been called to a Green St home to make a delivery.

Police said when he arrived and went to  collect the food from the car, he was confronted by a group of up to six men who were armed with steel pipes.

The men allegedly threatened the driver and demanded he give them the food.

Police said the man was not harmed during the incident and are continuing investigations into the matter.
