Sigma Resources has diversified from supplying personnel primarily to the aerospace industry and is making its way into construction, mining and food processing.
Sigma Resources director Matthew Wheatley said the business had already supplied personnel to QantasLink and its maintenance operations, but had looked at what else it could do.
“We will supply personnel to other industries that have similar synergies, like technical trades, construction and mining,” he said.
Sigma Resources senior recruitment manager Alex Downing said he was looking at regional recruitment opportunities for personnel, as he was a professional recruiter in mining and construction.
Mr Wheatley said it was about bringing people to Tamworth.
“We have met with (member for Tamworth) Kevin Anderson and got him on board and he is trying to drive support,” he said.
He said they were working with companies including Richard Crookes Construction, Thomas Foods and Whitehaven Coal.
Mr Downing said they were focused on construction and mining initially.
“We have a real focus on supporting companies and encouraging people to move to the region,” he said.
“Tamworth is not a hard sell. I spend a lot of time speaking to partners as well, because you’re not just recruiting a person, you’re recruiting a whole family. We want to provide a professional and ethical service.”
He said the business had access to train people in occupational health and safety.
If a client had needs, Sigma Resources would find people with those skill sets.
He said Sigma Resources had already brought 30 people to Tamworth in the past year who work in the aerospace industry, and who had settled well into the city.
Mr Wheatley said these people were worth about $3 million to Tamworth in the past 12 months.
The business wants to hear from both personnel and businesses interested in joining it to either find work or find the right people for work that was available.
