That’s the assessment of trainer Craig Clegg as he prepares the five-year-old mare for the feature race for her South Sydney Rabbitoh fan and owner Anthony Clinch.
Clegg bought the mare for $5000 earlier this year and she’s now won five races and more than $20,000 since arriving from down south.
“I might give her a spell after this,” Clegg said during Saturday’s Kootingal-Walcha Group 4 Second Division match where the Kooty Roosters won 48-18 to remain top of the table and moving towards their own grand final.
“This is her grand final, she’ll go for a little holiday. She’s one very w ell for Clinchy and she’s done pretty well for herself seeing she didn’t really have her first run until she was a four-year-old.
“She’s had 10 or 12 starts for us since we got her and really hasn’t had a break.
“But she’s been working well, bucking her brand off. It’s a final though and anything can happen.”
She won one of two Marathon heats recently with a fine staying effort while the other heat was run much slower and became a last sprint home.
Comparing the two heats, form-wise, is impossible.
“All I know is she pulled up well.
“I’ve done everything I can, now it’s up to young Daniel (driver Daniel Morgan). He drove her well last start. This is over 3110m too. She’ll get the trip but it just depends on how the race transpires.”
He thought Ken Natty’s Leighmont and the Chris Shepherdson trained Signory Shannon might be the biggest dangers.
This evening’s Psarakis Accounting Final (3110m) is timed to step away from the mobile barrier at 5.09pm on an eight race TAB program timed to start at 2.47pm.
