Oprah Winfrey fans will have the chance to watch the talk show mogul dish out self-help advice in the flesh when tickets to her Australian arena tour go on sale at 1pm today. But it won't come cheap.

The 61-year-old last month announced she would return to Australia after a five year absence for her headline show An Evening With Oprah, which is due to tour the country in December.

Pre-sale tickets sold out within hours last week and fans hoping for cheap tickets will be disappointed to hear the most affordable seats ($99) have already been snapped up.

In Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne the cheapest seats available when general admission tickets go on sale this afternoon will set fans back $264.

If money is no object, then Oprah fans can fork-out a staggering $2499 for the the "'O' VIP Photo + Soundcheck Experience" which includes a seat in the first 10 rows, a group photo with Oprah and a 15-minute group Q&A session.

More than half the seats at Winfrey's Sydney show at Allphones Arena have already sold, including the $799 ultimate fan package option, which includes a signed Oprah VIP gift set.

On the Ticketmaster resale site, two seats in the third row are selling for a whopping $2990 each.

The television and publishing self-help guru is expected to dish out life advice and share insights from her personal story in what is promised to be an "intimate" evening.

The string of arena shows are being presented by Swisse vitamins and supported by superannuation company Sunsuper.

Winfrey last visited Australia in 2010 when she brought 302 audience members from her show on a week-long tour of Australia. The talk show legend filmed a live show at the Sydney Opera House and met former prime minister Julia Gillard in Melbourne.

In a statement on the Ticketek site, Winfrey said she was looking forward to returning.

"It is hard to believe it has been five years since I was there, and I look forward to being reconnected, rejuvenated and reinspired about what is possible for our lives. I am also excited to visit New Zealand for the very first time!"

Winfrey left The Oprah Winfrey Show in May 2011 after 25 years.
