They caught up with former Oxley High School buddy Josh Hazlewood in London for what was a huge win by the Australian team.
Hazlewood, following on from World Cup success and then sterling exploits in the Windies, finished with five wickets for the match at Lord’s in the 405-run win.
He also claimed five wickets at Cardiff when the Aussies were beaten by 169.
Hazlewood didn’t forget his old schoolmates either.
He made Crowe his “WAG” for the Test, allowing Matt to hobnob with all the wives and girlfriends of the Australian players.
He even had his picture taken with Hazlewood in the Aussie dressing shed to broadcast across Facebook.
Anyone who has been to Lord’s, as I was lucky enough to do with the Tamworth Ashes tour a few years back, can vouch for the history and subtle atmosphere the home of cricket provides.
Matt and Jack, who are heading to Italy to check out the vino, possibly, also met up with plenty of Tamworthians at the cricket.
Tamworth rep and South Tamworth’s Tom Groth helped the deadly duo celebrate a loss in the First Test at Cardiff while City United allrounder Richie O’Halloran was on hand at Lord’s.
It was also Jack’s 26th birthday last Sunday. A fitting day to demolish the Poms.
