Planned coaching clinics in October will also be a highlight in the “off season”, club president Neil Barry said.
“At the moment the young athletes are preparing for all their school carnivals,” he said. “Some have State cross- country at Eastern Creek coming up.
“It is our off season but we are trying to make training all year round, not just train in the athletics season.”
Imminent coaching clinics have had to be put back to October though, he said.
“Adam will run these.”
Adam is Tamworth Athletic Club’s coach Adam Jolliffe.
He looks after all the athletes.
“We’re looking at holding two clinics in October,” he said.
“One for the juniors and one for the seniors.
“We’re also hoping we might have some Commonwealth Games or Olympics coaches here too.
“They have big clinics at Coffs (Harbour) too and that will get the ball rolling for us.
Jolliffe wants to make the club “year round” for training for seniors as well as Little A’s.
“We’re currently doing three days a week – Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.”
Any junior or senior athlete is welcome.
All they have to do is register so they are covered for all insurance and medical
liabilities.
