DUNGOWAN Cowboys might have seen red about their many early blues when 28-22 losers to the black and white Werris Creek Magpies last Saturday but they are copping the colour tip this weekend when they stage a “black and white ball”.

The Cowboys have a black and white ball at North Tamworth Bowling Club on Saturday evening following their home game against the Walcha Kangaroos.
The Roos and Cowboys will kick off their games earlier than normal too, Dungowan club president Bruce Henry said.
“We will start the Cowgirls game at noon and then the men at 1pm,” he said.
“Should be two good games and then we’ll go to the ball. It should be a lot of fun.”
Sponsored by Metroll, the proceeds from the ball go to Men Of League.
“We’re auctioning some State Of Origin gear and hopefully will raise a bit of money for the Men Of League.
“Manilla staged their annual MOL Bowls day at Manilla Bowling Club last Sunday and had another big day with the likes of John Quayle, Neville Glover, Bobby Adamson, Ken Thompson and Don Pascoe turning out.
Henry and his Cowboy committee hope to make the Roos matches a big day.
“We’re also playing in a different guernsey as well although we won’t be auctioning those.”
The Dungowan RLFC Black Tie Ball starts 6.30pm with tickets $50. That includes a two-course meal and live entertainment from Stacy Jane.
All proceeds from the auction go to the Men of League Foundation.
Tickets for the ball can be purchased at the Dungowan Hotel (67694206), Firetalk (corner of Barnes & Crown Streets, Taminda on 67625333) or Lochie Collins (0401 866274).
While Dungowan host Walcha Roos, Boggabri Kangaroos are at home to Bendemeer, Barraba Bulldogs travel to Kootingal to tackle the competition leaders, Quirindi host Werris Creek Magpies and Uralla and Manilla match up at Manilla Showground.
