Family and friends will celebrate Archie Hunt’s short life with a service at St Anne’s Catholic Church in Merriwa at 11am tomorrow.
The funeral will be followed by a private family burial.
The 13-year-old was a Year 7 day student at Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School in Tamworth.
Relieving principal Clint Gallagher described Archie as a “lovely young man” who “made a real impact” in the two terms he spent at the school.
Archie was shopping with family at the historic Queen Victoria Building in Sydney’s CBD about 3pm on Sunday, June 28, when he fell several storeys from a railing.
He suffered critical head and chest injuries, and later died at Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick.
The Merewether Carlton Rugby Union Club, where Archie played for several seasons, will wear black armbands in his honour when games resume on July 11.
Hundreds of well-wishers have taken to The Leader’s Facebook page in recent days to pass on their condolences to the family.
“You were such a lovely boy (with) so much to live for,” one poster, Stephanie Wilkinson, said.
“I still can’t believe what happened. Your lovely mum must be devastated. I can’t imagine how she feels.”
