After starring for Pirates in their 65-5 win over Scone on Saturday, he backed up on Sunday with a man-of-the-match performance for the Oxley Diggers U18s.
He then got a late call-up to make his first grade debut, and helped lift them to their maiden Group 4 win.
It topped off what was a momentous weekend for the18-year old with Saturday his first start in first grade.
“That was heaps good. I was really excited (when he found out),” he said.
He’d had a few “10 minute stints at the end of games.”
He was playing out of position a bit on the wing, but was just excited to be out there.
“It’s not really my position,” he said.
“I was just giving it a go. I’ve got some speed to burn.”
And he was straight into the action with Jake Douglas setting him up for Pirates first try after only a couple of minutes.
The two combined again later in the half as Scarth pursed a first-half hat-trick and Pirates piled on 39 points.
“We got our plays working well,” he said.
The backline was humming with the likes of Douglas and centre partner Andrew Mepham causing constant havoc.
It was a lot of fun playing outside of them, Douglas especially.
Scarth said the pace was a lot quicker, although he didn’t notice it as much on the wing as when he moved into half-back.
He finished out the game there.
That and five-eighth are his natural positions.
He plays 10 for the 18s but was a couple of years ago picked in the State CHS team as a half-back, and does have the odd run there.
