The 13-year-old was shopping in Sydney's Queen Victoria Building on Sunday when he fell from a railing and plunged four storeys to his death.
The Year 7 Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School student's tragic death has sparked an outpouring of emotion from members of the Tamworth community.
"I am sure every person who knows of Archie will be devastated and thinking of his family," Donna Chambers posted on The Leader's Facebook page.
"Thoughts and prayers to his family, friends and the Farrer community. Play rugby in heaven, mate," Kristine Sharkey said.
Robyn Ticehurst described Archie as a "champion kid", while Lucy Gallagher said his death was an "unspeakable tragedy".
Farrer relieving principal Clint Gallagher described Archie as a "lovely young man" who was always "polite, respectful (and) friendly".
Police said the incident, which occurred just after 3pm on Sunday, was captured on CCTV cameras and footage would be provided to the coroner.
Funeral details are expected to be announced in the coming days.
