I do not suggest that these creatures should be decimated, however, Australia is a huge country with more than ample space for them to settle, other than in our residential areas.
The thought has occurred to me that perhaps a few exposures to the downdraught from the rotors of a low-hovering helicopter would be sufficient to move them on and could be continued until such times as they settled in a more appropriate location.
In this way the creatures would not be physically harmed, however, it is quite possible that they would themselves decide that they should find some more peaceful resting locale.
