A piece of Sydney's drinking history is set to disappear with the Alexandria Hotel marked for demolition.

At present, it's the de facto drinking headquarters for Sydney Swans fans.
A hotel has stood on the corner of Henderson Road and Garden Street in Alexandria since the late 1870s.
The existing building was built in the late 1920s and was operated by Tooth and Co.
However, plans released this week indicate the building is earmarked for demolition.
The pub changed hands a week ago, said Ray Masters, who owned the building from 1988.
Mr Masters would not provide the sale price.
The building has been sold to a company ultimately owned by publicity shy Centennial Property Group. The company's director is Lyle Hammerschlag, the son of former Freedom Furniture boss Ivan Hammerschlag.
The new owners have lodged plans to replace the pub with an $8 million four-storey residential tower for 28 apartments, along with commercial space on the ground floor.
The hotel is Henderson Road's last remaining link with Alexandria's pre-war industrial heritage. It was popular with workers at the old Alexandria goods yard, who used to hang their singlets on a clothes line in the hotel's extensive beer garden.
All the adjacent buildings were demolished in the 1940s for the construction of the eastern suburbs rail line.
For the past 15 years, the pub has been leased by Darren "Harry" McAsey, a former Swans forward who has forgone pokies and hipster redesign in favour of Aussie rules. The pub has become the favoured spot for Swans fans to watch the team's away games.
Mr McAsey declined to comment on the sale.
Calls to the pub's owners were not returned.
Documents lodged in support of the development application acknowledge the building has historical value but argue its style of architecture is relatively common and that its heritage value has been diminished by surrounding redevelopment.
The free-standing style of hotel was designed by Sydney firm Rudder and Grout. It was in the same style as Newtown's Union Hotel and Sydney's Edinburgh Castle.
The development application is on public exhibition at the City of Sydney council until July 14.
