Managing director Leonnee Pinchen-Martin said the entries were “just shy of 200 entries”.
“Entry numbers are good and slightly more than other years’,” she said.
Ms Pinchen-Martin said numbers were particularly up in the secondary student section.
The theme was circus, so all the entries are woollen circus garments.
The Tamworth-based marketer said people who attended the runway event were always surprised about the diversity of wool.
“Most people think of wool as knitted jumpers and heavy, bulky items, but there are all the wool blends now,” Ms Pinchen-Martin said.
“There is so much more to wool than people think.”
Celebrity judges television personality Catriona Rowntree, fashion designer Jonathan Ward and Sass and Bide founder Sarah-Jane Clark will now judge the different categories in Armidale tomorrow, where they will decide the finalists.
The finalists and winners will be announced at the awards in Tamworth on July 17.
