The three country music sweethearts are in the city for a show tonight at The Pub, but found the time to visit Timbumburi and Oxley Vale public schools and Peel High School to inspire the students.
Timbumburi Public students were first on the list and Lawrence said, for some students, it was the first live concert they had seen.
“We want to give them the appreciation of live music because we need the young people to come through and see us and we want them to have an appreciation of country music,” she said.
“We want to introduce that to young people as well. We spoke about how all of us had lots of hard rejection along the way and being told we weren’t good enough.”
Lawrence said it was not about inspiring the students to become singers, but to chase their dreams no matter what they were.
“We told them that you can sometimes be told you’re not good enough, but if that’s what you really want, you have to keep going back again and again,” she said.
The Golden Guitar winner has been visiting schools for years and said she found them fun and inspiring.
“A lot of the schools have never had artists come in, so we are proud of the little program we have put together,” she said.
Timbumburi Public Year 1 teacher Harley Walmsley said the school loved taking learning outside the classroom.
“For them to see a real live little gig is fabulous and they told them that if you dream it and believe it, you can do it and about working hard,” she said.
“That’s a really lovely sentiment. The kids absolutely love it and it’s nice for them to be able to see you can love music, you can play music and people can make careers out of it. The three girls were great role models.”
Mrs Walmsley said the school would welcome any other artists who wanted to visit, any time.
