I admire Ian for having the courage to defend marriage.
This is my opinion on the subject.
Tamworth’s Troy Rowland’s letter of May 16, saddened by lack of scientific knowledge in community, took exception to Ian’s letter by saying “at a time when HIV infection rates are starting to increase in this country”.
I support Troy’s request of putting his letter online and that a factual article should be printed on the history and current status of HIV research.
Glen Innes’ Mercurius Goldstein’s letter of May 20, saying HIV virus doesn’t know who is gay and who isn’t, also attacks Ian’s letter and paints a frightening picture that not even married heterosexual couples are safe or immune from HIV infections.
I formed my opinion that our bodies are the crowning work of creation and that every organ in our body has its own special purpose from information in a medical book, Modern Medical Counsellor written in 1954:
“Modern medicine, despite its incompleteness and weakness, stands today as one of the mighty triumphs of the human spirit.
“Instead of being satisfied with curative measures, science strives to prevent disease and lead men to a knowledge of principle that produces health in the mind and body to develop its strength that all its machinery may function harmoniously to conquer disease, preserve life and postpone death.”
I was upset by Mr Goldstein’s comment that, “Indeed, HIV spread fastest when religious institutions instruct their believers not to use condoms, which are the most effective preventive measure.”
I also object to safe-sex education that promotes anal and oral acts as normal for all genders.
